New Magnetic Fields Album in March

The Magnetic Fields’ tenth full-length album, Love at the Bottom of the Sea, will be released March 6th on Merge Records. It will be their first album of new material on Merge since 1999’s 69 Love Songs. They also announced several new tour dates for 2012, shown below.

Love at the Bottom of the Sea is reminiscent of The Magnetic Fields’ earlier material, touching on a mixture of synth and acoustic sounds showed on albums like The Charm of the Highway Strip and Get Lost. Their recent albums have been largely devoid of synths, so it’s a jump into a new yet familiar direction. “Most of the synthesizers on the record didn’t exist when we were last using synthesizers,” frontman Stephin Merritt said.

None of the album’s songs are over three minutes long

02 Andrew in Drag
03 Your Girlfriend’s Face
04 Born for Love
05 I’d Go Anywhere With Hugh
