HAL unveiled two songs off their upcoming album The Time The Hour. “Why Do You Come Here” and “Down in the Valley” are both chirpy and upbeat pieces of folk-pop. They share accentuated falsettos, flourishes of strings, and the superb quality of vocal harmonizing we saw on their self-titled debut album, released all the way back in 2005. The Irish trio haven’t released anything since then, and these tracks (along with the excellent “Be With You”) mark the long-awaited return I posted about in April. The Time The Hour was initially pushed back, but will finally see the light of day in April.

They also have an EP for “Down In The Valley” out soon, featuring these two tracks alongside “Motorcars” and “Little Lady”. Just wait until you hear “Motorcars”… it’s a haunting string-laden ballad that’s one of their best.
