MP3: Avian Architecture – “Circumambulation”

Avian Architecture is the collaborative effort of JD Snell and Tyler Lindgren, who craft an engaging instrumental sound with a likeness to futuristic prog-rock and math-rock. On “Circumambulation” the percussion is noticeably precise, mixing the qualities of improvisational virtuosity and automated technology. All three tracks on their pay-as-you-please Gemini Talons EP show off the impressive drumming in similar fashion, though this track seems most impressive. The guitars alternate between wailing and stabbing, the latter present in the verse and emitting anxiety through its hurried repetition. “Taboom (!)” isn’t as colorful or interesting as the others, but has an energetic metal-geared sound that shows the duo’s range.
