Depeche Mode – “Heaven”

Depeche Mode - Delta Machine

It was just last week that Depeche Mode announced the release date and track listing for their upcoming album, Delta Machine. It was also revealed that “Heaven”, the album’s first single, would be released on February 1st — nearly two months before the album’s March 26th release date. It appears listeners will get a slice of “Heaven” a day early, thanks to KROQ.  The track projects an intimately dark atmosphere with a fuzzily infectious bass lead and solemn piano echoes. Dave Gahan’s voice sounds as good as ever, especially with his uptick in emotion during the second verse and its grimy longing. The bass-guitar interplay during the aerial chorus is also excellent. Overall, it’s a pleasant effort that certainly coincides with Depeche Mode’s earlier statements, that it would have “a similar vibe to [1990’s] Violator and [1993’s] Songs of Faith and Devotion.”

Gahan said that Delta Machine is ”not a blues record, but it definitely has a soulful vibe.” He continues: ”With this release we’ve completely shifted our idea of how to create an album. When we hit a wall where we realize the album is beginning to sound too normal, we’ll mess it up and really give it that organic Depeche Mode Sound. Delta Machine is no different, and I can’t wait for all of our fans to hear it.” As reported earlier, the disc release of “Heaven” will include remixes by Matthew Dear, Blawan, Owlle, and Steps to Heaven.

Depeche I will end up dust I’m in heaven I stand in golden rays radiantly I burn a fire of love

  2. Heaven is a slow ballad full of lyricism thanks in particular to Dave Gahan’s excellent vocal performance. He seems to be really fit. Gothic pictures, the video is a bit blasphemous and even fetish and reveals the split personality of the group, that can be so impermeable to external forces to deceive…. So beautiful (and not made-up in video, with wrinkles and salt and pepper’s haired) while damned, like some Baudleaire’s poetry. I believe they are their inspiration source
Baudelaire: I know how much pain, how much sweat is necessary on the hill in flames, under the scorching sun, because I have a soul, and the life in me flow.
Depeche: I will end up dust I’m in heaven I stand in golden rays radiantly I burn a fire of love

  3. There are, however, some companies that offer these watches at much lower prices.
The very expensive watches have various functionalities on them but they
are primarily treated as an accessory that a man can possess.
o Band: A metal bracelet, leather strap, or even a rubber band.

  4. Love this. Didn’t think it would be as good as their older stuff, but they haven’t lost their edge at all.
