Ducktails’ The Flower Lane was one of the first great releases of 2013, a memorable journey through nocturnal synth-pop and spacey psych-rock concoctions via frontman Matt Mondanile, who’s also the guitarist for Real Estate. Mondanile’s Ducktails project already has another release on the way with a 12″ EP, Wish Hotel. Only 100 copies will exist on clear vinyl, a very limited pressing indeed. Wish Hotel includes five new songs, including the just released “Honey Tiger Eyes”, a warm and gauzy that’s friendly on the phasing and gentle percussive trippiness, and that equates to stoned happiness. Props to Ducktails for following up a quality album so quickly with what appears to be a quality EP in Wish Hotel.
