Stoney – “We Belonged”

The tranquil folk creakings of singer/songwriter Stoney has earned him plenty of praise, including NPR calling him “a younger David Bowie with the dapper swagger of The Kinks.” With Paul Simon folk precision and Gotye pop twinkling, “We Belonged” is a great entry to the British songwriter’s catalog, especially with the recent release of his new full-length, More Than Animals. Now located in Austin, Texas, Stoney looks to be expanding his audience with a solid release and plenty of performances, which follow up tours with the likes of Arctic Monkeys and Aqualung.

The scenic, outdoors-y video for “We Belonged” – which features a wedding and child birth – captures the capricious yet rootsy nature of the track well. It’s a charming love story, but also one with an ethereal naturalistic folk beauty that the likes of Paul Simon and Bon Iver are no stranger to. Check out the track’s video below, and then head on over to Stoney’s Bandcamp to stream and purchase More Than Animals.
