The Liquorsmiths – “This Book Belongs To”

liquorsmiths

“This Book Belongs To” is a fluttering folk track from The Liquorsmiths, a San Diego-based group of folk-rockers who take a cue from acts like Wilco and Delta Spirit. Their new six-track release, also called This Book Belongs To, is out on the 25th. The trio is particularly noted for their live performances – at venues like the House of Blues in LA and San Diego, The Utah in San Francisco and The Mississippi in Portland – but the release does a fine job of capturing their sound in studio form.

The release’s eponymous track features a constantly upbeat guitar progression over vocals that are somewhat reminiscent of a more restrained John McCauley. The focused nature of the guitars lend to a hypnotic feel that makes it fairly easy to become captivated by the overall flow and feel-good sentiments of this fine, simple-flowing yet alluring folk effort.
