The Slang – “Breakthrough”

the slang

When we last featured The Slang a few years ago, they were on the verge of releasing their debut self-titled EP, headlined by an infectious track in “Feels Like Work” that drew comparisons to The Killers and The Midway State. Two years later, they just released a new 5-song EP, Night and Day, and will tour for the release this fall. The act – comprised of songwriter, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist John Bobo and bassist John Newsome – shows a natural continuation of their melodically emotional sound here, ranging from the rugged jangly alternative of “Miracle Sound” to the ardently powerful piano-laden “Breakthrough”, which sounds like it’s a slab from ’90s nostalgia (in the best way possible).
