LOVING – “The Not Real Lake”

LOVING’s gorgeous eponymous debut release presents a laid-back alternative lo-fi sound, its stylistic approach reminding me fondly of Little Joy’s 2008 eponymous debut. Similarly to that, lush guitar lines float breezily over spaced-out vocals, providing a summery and easily immersive listening experience nicely exemplified by the track “The Not Real Lake”. It’s understated at first, though cohesive melodic elements – like the guitar crawl just past the one-minute mark and percussive halt at 01:43 – help bring out a refreshing structural direction and overall irresistible vibe.
