deddori – “The Message”

Gurgling synths and an ambient spacey pad kick off “The Message”, with robotic percussion and a gentle chime emerging shortly thereafter. The new single from electronic duo deddori impresses atmospherically, concocting a wintry and mysterious aura with hypnotic synth work and looming dread throughout. The project – currently based out of Doha, Qatar – was inspired by a nighttime bicycle ride while listening to Gesaffelstein’s Aleph album, “which led to ideas of making a music video with a cyclist as main character and a perfect soundtrack in the background.” It’s an interesting premise that certainly explains the nocturnal vibes. Also citing two soundtracks specifically – for 2011’s Drive and Daft Punk’s Tron: Legacy soundtrack – as atmospheric influences, this track captivates in a similar realm of soundscapes.
