thevillainandi – “the earth from the air”

thevillainandi

“the earth from the air” is a soaring and effervescent pop spectacle from thevillainandi, the solo project formed by Daniel Charles Toone in 2013. Performing on XFM, for Communion Records, and at venues like Pianos and Freddy’s Bar Brooklyn has led to thevillainandi’s fanbase gradually growing. It will no doubt be even more enhanced by the release of this track on December 5th (the b-side “fear the kings” will also be released). Toone’s vocals sound full of life throughout, showcasing a suave enthusiasm reminiscent of The Veils’ Finn Andrews, though with a peppier step and more pitch exuberance. The addition of twinkling keys and anthemic percussion to the track’s feel does well, making this breezily bright effort an easy one to become stuck in your head.

Toone also plays in the group Monks In The Wood, whose co-frontman Matt Rhys plays bass for thevillainandi.
