Fit for a rainy day like today (at least here), “Rift” is a moody success that reminds of Air’s chilly key-laden soundscapes throughout Moon Safari. With the injection of soulful vocals and a subtly effective hook whose organ re-emphasis and percussive uptick plays nicely, it’s a consuming effort from start-to-finish. The first track on his Synthetic VolkEP, it’s a consuming opener that sets the scene masterfully. The track’s maker, The Sexy Russians, is the alias of Alex Nye.
The Sexy Russians will play his first live set on December 18th at Mahall’s in Cleveland. In January 2017 he is moving to Freiburg, Germany to start touring Europe and build a studio.
