Eric Frisch – “Drift Away”

We’ve featured Eric Frisch in years past, on tracks like ’50s/’60s pop homage “Pretty Girls” and fairly recently with surf-rock/AM-radio gem “The Light Ahead“. He’s shown a tendency for catchy and understated nostalgic pop both times, and once again on new track “Drift Away”. It’s off his new album Music Under Sea, released this past December. A steady acoustical strum and yearning vocals comprise the initial presentation, leading to a vocally exuberant hook that bounces along as it merges into the second batch of verses. The second half is particularly impressive, where a charismatic electric guitar line leads into gentle string-laden accompaniments. This added orchestral/classical feel does great for Frisch’s stylistic appeal and variety.
