New Fashioned – “How to Make You Smile”

/

Especially after listening to hundreds of tracks daily with intricacies and stylistic idiosyncrasies, from the brilliant to questionable, there can be an urge to listen to a simple slice of hook-y pop once in awhile. That’s where acts like New Fashioned come in. A pop trio from Turku, Finland, New Fashioned pursue catchy choruses within a fairly straightforward pop approach, though one whose boy-band harmonies and emphasis on the hook works quite well on “How to Make You Smile”, a faultless pop creation that’s bound to get stuck in any pop aficionado’s head. Like a more straight-shooting vein of ’80s pop nostalgia that Ice Choir has put out, New Fashioned’s aesthetic works well in the world of infectious pop.
