Spilt Milk – “The Fall”

/

Sydney, Australia-based Spilt Milk are a trio quite ahead of their years, as they’re in their last year of high school and already cranking out quality indie-rock with their debut single “The Fall”. Exuberant vocals and a perky rhythm section combine with phaser-friendly and twangy guitars alike, centering around a guitar-led hook and a successive, majestic bridge leading into the three-minute mark. This particular moment shows the songwriting ability of the trio wonderfully, the soaring vocals recalling Jeff Buckley a bit in their emotive croon. Very, very impressive debut. At first this may seem like fairly standard indie-rock fare, though the track shifts into another gear around the mid-point, showing variety and hook-friendly allure.
