Sugar Pit – “Here It Comes”

Sugar Pit – the project of Kian Stevens-Winston from Carbondale, Illinois – embraces independent funk in its melodic, charismatic approach — on new track “Here It Comes” being a “Cuban-inspired tune” he wrote, arranged, and produced in his bedroom. His vocals manage to be simultaneously suave and perky, complemented by sharp guitars and infectious brass-y flourishes that emerge around 01:13. The hook – “something that you’ve seen here before” – does its funk influences proud in being an irresistibly infectious moment.
