Oakland rockers Night Herons craft an atmospheric, charismatic sound throughout their new album Relevant Noise, which infuses a modern rock sound into influences like the New York Dolls and The Stooges. The album’s opening track, “Compromise” showcases the suavely infectious vocals of Dana Berry, who works melodically over a muscle-y guitar lead that chugs along precisely, leading into a haunting chorus – “I know that life’s not easy” – that speaks to perseverance and the nature of compromises in life.
