The Peanut Gallery – “Deep Thoughts”

/

New Jersey hip-hop duo The Peanut Gallery showcase a spacey, hypnotic sound on new track “Deep Thoughts” — with a spacey synth pad and minimalist percussion complementing the ceaseless vocal delivery and sporadic vocal samples. The duo of Orlando and Flee Jones both fell in love with hip-hop at an early age, and now infuse creative soundscapes into a traditional hip-hop delivery, making for a sound that’s familiar though relatively otherworldly — not too distant from the idiosyncratic approach of Shabazz Palaces. Although melodically repetitive, “Deep Thoughts” achieves success with its hypnotic soundscape and intense, retrospective lyrics. The duo is prepping for their next project, Tales From The Basement, to be released later this year.
