MITYA – “Omen Over Sky”

//

“Omen Over Sky” is a catchy psych-rocker from Russian musician and video-maker MITYA. It’s accompanied by a video with ample colors and variation, apt considering the track’s strengths — particularly, its ability to seamlessly swap between perked-up fuzz guitar and moments of psych-pop solitude, like at 01:20 when a bouncy bass lead is accompanied by a sitar-y hypnotism. What follows are flourishes of woodwinds that add a majestic, worldly quality to the psych-friendly feel. We can expect more excellent songwriting and psych-friendly hooks on MITYA’s EP Monument, inspired by his experiencing traveling to Tatar villages and recording ancient sounds and songs.

“Omen Over Sky” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of September 2018’ Spotify playlist.
