Vision Division – “Outside/Tonight”

/

Presently based in Canberra, Australia, Vision Division hearken back to post-punk acts like The Chameleons UK and Echo & the Bunnymen in their nonchalant vocal presence, while channeling a contemporary synth-tinged shine akin to Cut Copy. Their new single “Outside/Tonight” is a great showing, the hypnotic post-punk vocal and rhythmic presence combining with a sweeping melody and synth-led bass-y reverberation. Following a synth-laden interlude around the three-minute mark, the sound of a soaring synth line and escalating vocals make for a memorable conclusion, repeating the line “I think I want to go outside.” It’s a post-punk anthem for hermits with a great synth-laden exterior, from an act that shows quite a lot here.
