Definitely agree that The Dream doesn’t follow the cookie cutter format and risks the creativity that other artists shun from.

Because one of my favorite songs of all time (from his Love VS Money album) FANCY can’t be duplicated, I was hoping to have one of “those” songs on the Love King album. Not disappointed, lightening may only strike once, but would have been good to hear a song of the same potency (and emotion/feel) as FANCY.

“Florida University” is one of the standouts on the record for me: the crass wordplay (for me) is not forced—it punctuates the festering hurt of an estranged relationship. Probably one of the most radio-ready songs on the record, it’s one “hell of a clean version.”

Great review, I agree with you, Florida University shouldn’t have been there. Its a great album though. The-Dream is one of the best out there.

Surprised to see this one here. The rating you gave is spot-on. Agree that “Priceless” would have been an apt closer and should have been included in the album. Disagree with what you perceive as the clunkers though. For this listener, the album truly starts with “F.I.L.A.”, one of the best tracks together with “Abyss”. Solid album. This is almost, if not, on par with last year’s critically acclaimed “Love Vs. Money”.
