Nick Noemi – “But I Can Tell”

nick noemi

Friendly guitar twangs and warm acoustic strums make “But I Can Tell” an instantly amiable success, via Eugene, Oregon-based singer/songwriter Nick Noemi, who released his debut album Dr. Rocket this past September. Currently living in Seattle – where he’s very active in the music scene when not working at a ramen shop in Capitol Hill – Noemi shows a variety of talent on this gem. There’s a natural sort of power-pop and rock nostalgia present – the sort that acts like Dr. Dog and Foxygen pay tribute to – but also a very enticing psych-pop edge, reminiscent of Ariel Pink’s symphonic-like creative glee throughout the hook starting around 01:30. “But I Can Tell” is infectiously rewarding for anyone into power-pop, rock, or psychedelia — which casts a wide net.
