Loneborn – “Ghosts”

/

A collaboration between a producer with years of experience writing jingles and a graphic designer with a knack for brilliant musical ideas (though without traditional musical knowledge), Loneborn is a promising new act who released their self-titled EP on April 6th. They’re already slated to release a second follow-up EP by the end of July, with “Ghosts” being a track from that release. The Miami-based collaboration shows well here, reminding of ’00s indie-rock acts like The Walkmen and The Strokes in the loosely melodic vocal approach. The track’s various aspects – the twangy n’ concise guitars, the touch of female vocals, the “I see a ghost,” hook, and general nostalgic indie-rock nonchalance – all work well together. I’m certainly looking forward to the EP.

“Ghosts” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of July 2018’ Spotify playlist.
