“Closer Look” is the latest effort from Les Techno, the NYC-based act that has impressed with numerous tracks in the past. Les Techno has touted a sound reminiscent of the ’80s with these past efforts, though “Closer Look” may be the most convincing in its aesthetic, certainly recalling acts like The Psychedelic Furs and Duran Duran. Specifically, the guitar solo at 02:19 and its preceding bridge drip with enjoyably melodic ’80s nostalgia. The synths in the chorus combine with the guitar work and confident vocals to also hold a resemblance to Bowie’s Scary Monsters period. “Closer Look” is perhaps my favorite from Les Techno yet.
