Nick Waters – “4 AM Spotlight”

/

“4 AM Spotlight” is the closing track on Nick Waters’ new EP of the same name. The Seattle-based artist impresses with an escalation from mellow, soulful beginnings into passionate, melodic heights. A lounge-y beginning with serene keys and fairly nonchalant vocals grows into something magical, first signaled by the twangy dream-pop guitars around the one-minute mark. 01:20 shows a yearning chorus with a backing illuminated synth alongside emotive vocals, aesthetically reminding of Pulp’s most dramatic tracks (or, Richard Hawley’s solo material). “4 AM Spotlight” is a fully engrossing track from a strongly recommended EP, streaming below:

“4 AM Spotlight” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2019’ Spotify playlist.
