Italian quintet EEF (Early Ettringite Formation) captivate on their sophomore album, what eef?, and its range of successful stylistic pursuits — from the funky, bluesy rock of lead single “Faded Memory” to the brassy sophisti-pop soaring of the opening “Rising Up.” The latter shows shades of Black Midi in its theatrical vocal segments and brass infusions, to give an idea of the band’s creative chops and evident musicianship.
