“Strawberries” is a hypnotic blast of sweetness, incorporating glistening keys and fluctuating vocal cuts to craft a track that lives up to its amiable namesake. An underwater effect initially commences the leading beat. It slowly emerges from an aquatic slumber as percussive trickles become apparent, a phasing effect also helping to gradually lead in the hypnotic lead. The track’s structure, with flourishes of strings and alternating vocal cut-outs, is reminiscent of the great Lindstrøm. Danish producer Galimatias should be proud of that comparison, and this gorgeous track. Although there are many beatmakers in their early 20s who start out making elementary hip-hop beats, few advance as far in approach as Galimatias.
