Justin Sosa is a promising singer/songwriter with a great knack for hooks, as his new track “Makes Me Believe” shows. A nonchalant verse featuring occasional twinkles and mellow guitars helps establish easy-minded vibes, while the soaring hook transition just after the one-minute mark is something reminiscent of Jonathan Richman’s power-pop smarts. The track is comfortably and stylistically expected in a sense after the first go-around (though the “love comes with a free drink” interlude is wonderfully effervescent), but it’s the type of hook-y comfort-sounding tune that’s very easy to get stuck in your head.
