White Kite – “Swans”

East London four-piece White Kite “enjoy mixing synthesisers with drum machines and big distorted guitars”, evidenced well by their new track “Swans”. The synthesizers and drum machines take the initial lead here as entrancing vocals – reminiscent of Antony Hegarty in their theatrical demand – take over. The percussion and synth interplay is reminiscent of Junior Boys’ rhythmic conciseness and icy-cool synths, while the driving beat takes on a slightly funk-tinged demeanor akin to Hot Chip. The “still got this desire” hook – followed by melodically effective cascading synths – is expertly accomplished, and will certainly perk your ears up if the verses haven’t yet. I’m looking forward to more from this East London four-piece.
