“Cold Car” is a twinkling new effort from The Edward Furlongs, who impressed previously with “Nagasaki“, a faster-moving piece with Beirut-like brass flourishes. “Cold Car” is a bit more scaled-back, allowing a mellow vocal delivery, playful synths, and graceful twinkles comprise a very addictive melody that shows both yearning and melodic confidence, though the brass does re-emerge in great fashion during the final 30 seconds or so. It’s my favorite effort from this talented New Jersey-based group yet.
