The Great Dictators – “Flipside”

flipside

Danish alt-rock trio The Great Dictators show strongly on new track “Flipside”, a slow-burner with twangy guitars and languid vocals that work very nicely alongside each other, crafting a very successful track that shines particularly brightly during the gauzy and hypnotic chorus. While not quite shoegaze, there’s ample texture here in the guitar work to result in beautifully expansive atmosphere. Some bright brass wraps things up in adding to this expanding beauty. The self-description “Pixies and New Order meet up in the studio for a hazy weed-fueled session” is enjoyably apt. I’m really digging this new track and the textures wherein from The Great Dictators, whose new album Women is out November 4th.
