Gert Taberner – “Fallen”

Gert Taberner grew up in Germany and moved to Vancouver shortly after completing school. While there, he created his first album. Currently residing in New York, Taberner put out his new EP Fallen this past September. He projects a developmental, serene sound reminiscent of singer/songwriters in the vein of Damien Rice. “Fallen” rides on his vocals and a lush guitar solely until around 02:25, when steady percussion kicks in to help guide toward a soaring hook at 03:50, when various vocal layers combine alongside gorgeously intertwined guitar melodies. The track is a delicate build-up, one that finishes especially well as the guitars and keys intermingle fully with the vocals in the final minute.
