Suburban Birds – “Break Me Down”

Salt Lake City-based Suburban Birds’ upcoming debut LP Lituya Bay is preceded by the release of its second single “Break Me Down”, recorded in “a beachy atmosphere with a lo-fi live feel” and mastered by Ryan Morey (who has worked on the likes of Arcade Fire’s Funeral). A chilled-out assortment of bouncy guitars front the first verses, an accessible beginning through the expansion at 01:05, when a more uplifted rhythm section coincides with multiple soaring vocal layers for a dreamy, wholly effective hook. “Break Me Down” is a great piece of songwriting and showing of atmospheric construction.
