The Great Escape – “Season of Love”

/

California rockers The Great Escape – most recently featured with their new album Universe in Bloom and brass-y opener “Let Me Go Wild” – take a successful stab at a holiday song. Their excellent use of brass is back, and wisely so considering their charm in most holiday songs. The band’s adoration for ’60s and ’70s pop is again evident, making for a nostalgic Christmas take that has a timeless approach, in that it could very well have been recorded in the 1970s and listeners wouldn’t know any better, in complementary form. Ingrid Andersson’s vocals again impress over Christmas-time keys and brass-y adornments, making for one of the stronger holiday originals I’ve heard thus far this year.
