Julia Krueger – “Flamethrower”

/

Hailing from South Orange County, Julia Krueger has been playing piano since age five. She wrote her first song, “Flamethrower”, at age 14 and it’s a strong showing of her style: piano-laden pop with a melancholic edge. It’s a fairly minimalist affair initially, though opens up with upright bass and percussion in the second half. The emotive vocals and bouncy piano lead the way definitively, though in quality form as the melody is strong and the emotions audibly genuine. The track is the opener off the 15-year-old artist’s debut EP, for(e)go, streaming in full on Spotify here.
