Yaysh – “Daep”

/

“Daep” is a slice of idiosyncratic pop from Yaysh, the title meaning “beautiful” in Vietnamese. Indeed, there’s a sort of unique beauty here, Yaysh’s quick and snappy vocals riding on a dark vein of electronica, with a minimalist backing similar to the most barren tracks from The Knife. Somewhere between singing and rapping, her vocals navigate the murky depths of the beat, emitting a sort of meditative, hypnotic trance in the enjoyably repeating structure. For fans of left-field-leaning pop, there’s a lot to like about the atmospheric explorations within Yaysh’s intriguing sound. Stream the track on Spotify here.

Yaysh’s new single “Twisted” can also be streamed here.
