Umbrella Bed – “Rotate”

Umbrella Bed are a ska supergroup based out of Minneapolis, comprised of many members with deep experience in the ska scene. The project formed in the summer of 1995, picking up on a 2-Tone ska sound and going on to release six full-lengths and play hundreds of shows. Their newest full-length, Rotate, was released in March and explores themes concerning “sheepish society, romance, betrayal, a failed education system, and more.” The release’s opening, self-titled track shows a fairly nonchalant vocal tone for the style, though behind a quick-paced rhythm section and – of course – additions of brass that play a large role in the primary melody, especially in the stellar “you are the one,” hook.
