Foreign Correspondent – “American High School Fashion”

/

Per Melbourne (AUS) quintet Foreign Correspondent, the slow-burning “American High School Fashion” is “a slowcore banger that laments the unsavory wardrobe of Liam Neeson’s daughter in Taken 2.” Previously impressing with downtempo psych-pop success “Daniel” almost one year ago today, “American High School Fashion” is another slice of slow-pop beauty from the act. The verses float by rather unassumingly, with hushed vocals and a sludgy bass crawl accompanying gentle, hazy guitars. The track starts to show its unique power around 01:10, when the creeping beauty of the track emerges in various beautiful vocal layers and a generally illuminated twinkle. “American High School Fashion” sounds like it lives within a dream, and Foreign Correspondent continue to show an innate ability to transport listeners to beautiful places.

“American High School Fashion” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2018’ Spotify playlist.
