Dolly Mavies – “Distance”

/

Dolly Mavies impresses on new track “Distance”, which works off hypnotic lyrical and vocal repetition. Mavies’ “maybe some distance,” vocal yearning works beautifully within tranquil guitar lines and an ethereal, lingering synth pad. The track touts a fairly straightforward structure, though does have an expansive bridge around the three-minute mark that shows some eclectic charm. The singer/songwriter from Oxford, with Welsh roots, is convincing in her stylistic approach involving haunting lyrics and poetic lyrics alongside acoustics and electronics.

“Distance” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of July 2018’ Spotify playlist.
