Dominy – “Mary Don’t Bury Me”

/

With a fondness for songs with fun melodies you can sing along to, Philly indie-rockers Dominy have a great new track with vibes fit for the weekend. “Mary Don’t Bury Me” touts an anthemic allure in its playful chorus: “Mary don’t bury me / I don’t wanna die.” The suave verses and perky chorus have a timeless sort of rock sound, reminiscent of Tom Petty’s enjoyable nonchalance and The Hold Steady’s fun blast of nostalgic rock. The group, known for their high-energy performances, has a slew of new tracks on their Soundcloud courtesy of new EP Dry Pleather, in addition to their album Wet Leather, released earlier this year. The Pixies-esque “Leather Jacket Song” is particularly catching.

“Mary Don’t Bury Me” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of July 2018’ Spotify playlist.
