i2m1 – “Fever”

i2m1, the project of Colorado-based Irene Carson, continues to show eclectic range with the engrossing track “Fever”. Whereas the previously featured “Illusion” showcased a bouncy synth-pop feel, “Fever” pursues an emotional vein of grunge-tinged rock with ample yearning. Flourishes of keys scatter in the background, though Carson’s tortured-sounding vocals (reminiscent a bit of Psychedelic Furs) and melancholic guitar work do the heavy lifting.

This track, along with “Borrowing Time” (streaming below), are off the upcoming Irene Carson album, The Art Of War.

“Fever” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of July 2018’ Spotify playlist.
