Ithaca Bottom Boys – “Winter Biking”

/

Ithaca Bottom Boys’ newly released, self-titled LP showcases a fun act with eclectic stylistic appeal — an aspect characteristic in the progression within “Winter Biking”. The first half or so grows from more traditional folk into a melded vein of rock, with hints of country and bluegrass. The two-minute mark introduces a psych-friendly transition, one that showcases a brief murkiness that compares favorably to the transitioning on Brian Wilson’s SMiLE. Other tracks on the album succeed as well — “Baby” is a crooning rocker that also showcases a serene transition mid-way through, while “Salvia Apple” is an entertaining journey through various tempos and feels.
