Kowala – “Amarillo”

Ahead of the release of their full-length debut, A Fruitless Endeavor, on September 30th, Kansas City act Kowala released its second single, “Amarillo”. The act projects trickling guitars, icy-cool synths, and striking vocals — like a cross of Wild Beasts’ quivering vocal presence and The xx’s stylish electro-pop exterior. The “baby, can’t you see,” conclusion shimmers with a particularly fun oomph, providing a satisfying conclusion to this stirring track. The album’s first single, “Mackenzie”, was released on August 7th and can also be heard below:

“Amarillo” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of September 2018’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Catchy Indie Pop 2018.
