my bambi – “show us (everything alive)”

/

my bambi is a creative DIY project from Asheville, North Carolina, headed by Matthew S. Reed. Reed’s ability to craft rousing, hypnotic soundscapes – both in the realm of folk-laden acoustics (first half of “trailways”) and throbbing distortion (“holy chaos”) – is reminiscent of Sun City Girls. my bambi is releasing a new album, whitedaewoo, tomorrow, with the superb track “show us (everything alive)” being of particular prominence. The track begins with an otherworldly meshing of pulsating, bass-y movements and a serene ambiance. The folks then emerge, casting themselves as extremely emotive and present, reminding of Win Butler in Arcade Fire’s early days. This particular track does well in showcasing the project’s multitude of strengths.
