David Alexandr – “Take Your Leave”‘

/

“Take Your Leave” is a striking track released today from David Alexandr, whose soul-infused vein of pop is immaculately melodic and suave. The North London-born artist combines classic pop influences, such as Michael Jackson and John Legend, with the electro-neo-soul grooves of newer artists, such as James Blake, Honne, and Tom Misch. I also detect some vibes reminiscent of The Style Council, touting a smooth and soulful sound with a hint of ’80s nostalgia. David’s smooth vocals – both the lead and the backing croon additions – work well amidst the lush rhythm section and lounge-y piano additions. “Take Your Leave” is an extremely promising showing from an artist who seems bound to rise quickly.

“Take Your Leave” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of October 2018’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Indie Funk and Soul 2018.
