Huey Blue – “Sugar Mama”

/

Releasing today, “Sugar Mama” is a new track from rising Australian artist Huey Blue. The catchy, charismatic track with funk and dub influence is off Huey’s forthcoming debut album Friday Anxiety, which is set for release in early 2019. The record was recorded in Byron Bay, Australia with producer Jake Walsh (Jordan Rakei).

Per Huey, the track combines elements of dub and funk to depict a story of a tumultuous relationship. The inspiration behind the intricate sounds and harmonies came from bands like Fat Freddy’s Drop and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

“Sugar Mama” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of November 2018’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Indie Rock.
