ESC – “Falling”

/

Dale Hiscock is an Idaho-based multi-instrumentalist and engineer who fronts the project ESC. A talented engineer, Hiscock followed the release of his debut album Geometry in July 2017 with another creation. Specifically, he created a software looper solution from scratch, enabling him to perform a full-band’s worth music live, as a solo act. He’s also clearly capable of writing great songs, as new track “Falling” shows. Somber vocals and lush acoustics are accompanied by a symphonic growth, the lingering string effect converging with subtle percussion toward the conclusion for a powerful effect. The final minute-and-a-half is especially beautiful.

Describing the track, Hiscock says it’s “a nostalgic winter song that wraps the always-complicated feelings of the season in a warm blanket of both hope and mourning.”

“Falling” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of December 2018’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Indie Folk.
