BRAVE – “I Will Wait”

/

BRAVE are a mainstray in the Washington, D.C. prog-rock scene, drawing praise since the release of their 2008 full-length Monuments, as well as their 2014 single “Surrounds Me.” After over a decade together, the band has released their latest album, the calm | the storm. “After 10 years of writing and refining this music, it continued to develop right through the recording process,” says BRAVE co-founder, lead composer, and guitarist Scott Loose. “We explore a fairly wide dynamic range on this album, from a very minimalist acoustic/vocal track called ‘Bay Song’ to more dense compositions such as the opening track ‘I Will Wait’.”

“I Will Wait” serves well as the opener, emphasizing the emotive vocals of Michelle Schrotz as well as various shining bits of instrumentation — from the roaring guitar solo just past the three-minute mark, to the string-based flourishes throughout. It’s a great start to a rousing album that will appeal to fans of anthemic progressive-rock. Stream the album in full below:

“I Will Wait” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of January 2019’ Spotify playlist.
