Northwest – “London”

//

“London” is an epic, 11-minute track from I, the striking debut album from Northwest. The project formed in 2015, when Ignacio Simón and Mariuca García-Lomas moved from Spain to the UK. Simón has experience as a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer, while García-Lomas is a visual artist, composer, and singer. They meld their talents into a very successful debut album, which was recently released online, with the music video for “London” put out to celebrate the occasion. García-Lomas’ vocals remind fondly of Marissa Nadler’s ghostly presence, while the track’s second half shows a rising, dramatic fervor that’s reminiscent of build-ups from Sigur Rós, Explosions in the Sky, and the like. “London” is a gripping journey of a track.

Look for the duo touring around Europe throughout the year, and stream I on Spotify here, as well as below:

“London” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of February 2019’ Spotify playlist.
