Plunki – “Caffeine”

//

Plunki crafts electro-pop from Miami, showing an infectiously creative spirit in an aesthetic aptly self-described as “like if Kate Bush and ABBA had a Cuban baby.” New track “Caffeine” captures an energetic electro-pop energy with a touch of somber yearning, like the tendency of an espresso to mask some gloom. “‘Caffeine’s the only thing I want to depend on,’ started out as something I’d tell people when they asked about my love life,” Plunki says of the track’s vocal hook. “I decide to make light of my own loneliness by turning it into something anthemic and comical. My favorite part is the breakdown around 1:24!” This is a strongly melodic showing from Plunki.

“Caffeine” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of February 2019’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Catchy Indie Pop.
